Se întâmplă, de multe ori, ca unele locuri să devină mult mai mult decât atât, să se transforme în adevărate legături cu destinațiile vizitate. Se întâmplă să ți se întipărească în minte și să devină unele dintre cele mai puternice amintiri legate de călătoriile tale. Acesta este principalul farmec al unui hotel și așa este cazul și hotelului care mi-a fost gazdă pentru prima noapte din proiectul „Be a Balkan In The Middle Of The Balkans”, Metropol Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Belgrade. Este primul impact și unul dintre cele mai puternice cu locurile respective, este prima legătură cu oamenii, este primul „Bine ai venit!” auzit, sunt primele fețe care îți zâmbesc, este parte din atmosfera generală a orașului. Este un loc care nu doar că dă naștere unor povești, ci care el însuși este o poveste. Una în care te lași cuprins și de care devii fascinat, de la primul, până la ultimul moment al vizitei.

EN: It happens, many times, for some places to become more than what this simple definition concerns, to turn into real connections with the destinations one has visited. They happen to imprint in your mind and become the strongest memories of your journey. This is the main charm of a hotel, and this is the case of the hotel which has hosted me for the first night during the project “Be a Balkan In The Middle Of The Balkans”, Metropol Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Belgrade. It is the first impact with those places, and one of the strongest, the first bond with the people, the first “Welcome!” you hear, the first faces smiling to you, it is a tiny part of the general atmosphere of the city. It is a place which not only gives birth to stories, but which is a story in itself. One in which you consciously lose yourself and which you become completely fascinated about, from the first, until the last moment of your stay.

Aceasta este povestea de astăzi, despre un hotel care el însuși știe să se prezinte și o face cu mare măiestrie. Eu doar vă pot împărtăși experiența mea din scurta perioadă petrecută aici, cu dorința de a reveni și cu speranța că și voi veți avea experiențe la fel de frumoase precum a mea, dacă îi veți păși pragul.

EN: This is today’s story, about a hotel which succeeds in presenting its charm on its own, and it does it absolutely masterly. The only thing I can do is to share with you my experience during the short period I have spent here, along with my wish to come back and my hope that your experiences will be as beautiful as mine, if you pay it a visit.

 

Amplasamentul – Location

 

Metropol Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Belgrade este situat în centrul orașului, înconjurat de un parc ce îi conferă un aer de prospețime și de vitalitate. Este ușor de remarcat, prin prisma dimensiunii impunătoare a clădirii. Muzeul Nikola Tesla este la o scurtă plimbare de hotel, doar 6 minute de mers pe jos, dar și către celelalte atracții ale orașului se poate ajunge cu ușurință, ori plimbându-vă și descoperind cât mai mult din farmecul acestuia, ori cu mijloacele de transport. Dar și hotelul îi omagiază memoria omului de știință, astfel că putem întâlni în interiorul lui camere ce îi poartă numele, precum un ballroom sau un penthouse.

EN: Metropol Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Belgrade is situated in the city center, surrounded by a park which offers a fresh, vivid air to the hotel.  It is easily remarkable through the commanding dimension of the building. The Nikola Tesla Museum is within a short distance from the hotel, around 6 minutes of walking, but the other attractions of the city are also easily reachable, either by foot, walking and discovering as much as possible of its charm, either by other means of transport. The hotel also pays tribute to the scientist’s memory, therefore inside the building we can find rooms which are named after him, along with a ballroom or a penthouse.

Clădirea și-a deschis pentru prima dată ușile invitaților în anul 1957, iar, de atunci, a întâmpinat oaspeți precum Igor Stravinsky, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Jack Nicholson, Neil Armstrong, ori Bobby Fischer. Misiunea hotelului de atunci și de acum, după ce a fost complet renovat în anul 2012, este să fie unul dintre cele mai luxoase hoteluri din Balcani, misiune pe care o îndeplinește cu succes, din punctul meu de vedere. Și nu doar prin decor și ambient, ci prin felul în care fiecare oaspete este tratat, prin atenția pentru detalii, prin rafinament transpus și în cele mai simple lucruri.

EN: The building opened its doors for its guests for the first time in 1957, and, even since then, it has welcomed guests such as Igor Stravinsky, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Jack Nicholson, Neil Armstrong, Bobby Fischer. The mission of the hotel back then, and also at the present time, after having been completely renovated in 2012, is that of being one of the most luxurious hotels in the Balkans, mission which it is successfully accomplishing, in my point of view. Not only does it do that through its decoration and its environment, but through the way each guest is being treated, through the attention paid to the details, through the refinement transposed even in the simplest things.

 

Camerele – The rooms

 

Dintre cele 198 de camere și 38 de suite ale hotelului Metropol Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Belgrade, o Suită Executive a fost gazda mea în prima noapte prin Balcani, dând startul acestui nou proiect. Acesta a fost și unul dintre motivele pentru care m-am atașat și mai tare de acest hotel. Iar un altul este primirea extrem de călduroasă oferită de Irena Stanojkovic, PR & Marketing Executive al hotelului.

EN: Of the 198 rooms and 38 suites of Metropol Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Belgrade, an Executive Suite has been my host for the first night in the Balkans, kicking off this new project. This was one of the reasons why I became even more attached to this hotel. And another one was the extremely warm welcome offered by Irena Stanojkovic, the PR & Marketing Executive of the hotel.

Unul dintre lucrurile care mi-au plăcut foarte tare la această cameră a fost acela că dispunea de un perete întreg format din ferestre. Ferestre cu povești, cum îmi place mie să le denumesc. Acelea care oferă un plus de mister și care te îndeamnă, parcă, după lăsarea serii, să îți lași imaginația să te conducă pe tărâmuri descoperite doar de mintea ta. Sau să îți așterni pe hârtie cuvintele, cum este cazul meu. 🙂

EN: One of the things which I utterly liked about this room was the fact that it had an entire wall of windows. Story-teller windows, as I like to name them. Those which offer an additional portion of mystery and which seem to prompt you, after the set of dawn, to let your imagination lead you on dream worlds which can only be discovered by your mind. Or to lay your words on paper, in my case.

 

Parcarea – Parking lot

 

Dacă intenționați să vizitați Belgrad cu mașina, nu trebuie să vă faceți nici cea mai mică grijă în ceea ce privește parcarea, deoarece hotelul dispune de parcare proprie. Acesta este, de fapt, primul contact cu Metropol Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Belgrade. Iar, mai apoi, ridicând privirea și uitându-te către etajele superioare, ai senzația că ferestrele au adunat întreg cerul. Este, de fapt, o frumoasă iluzie optică, pentru că norii se reflectă în ferestre, dar te lasă, pentru o clipă, să crezi că poți privi prin ele și să descoperi cerul.

EN: If you intend to visit Belgrade by car, you don’t have even the least reason to worry concerning the parking, because the hotel has its own area dedicated for guests’ cars. This is, actually, your first contact with Metropol Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Belgrade. And, afterwards, by raising your glance at the superior floors, you get the sensation that the windows have gathered the whole sky in their panes. It is, in fact, a wonderful optical illusion, because the clouds are reflecting in the windows, giving you the opportunity, even though only for an instant, to think that you can look through them and discover the sky.

 

SPA & Fitness

 

Zilele ploioase nu trebuie să fie motiv de înstristare, mai ales atunci când există multe alte posibilități de a petrece timpul. Într-adevăr, nu ne mai putem plimba pe străzi de dimineață până seara, trebuie să optăm pentru activități care se desfășoară, cu precădere, în interior. Una dintre ele este o sesiune de SPA, care este binevenită oricând, nu doar atunci când vremea este nefavorabilă. Ci în oricare alt moment în care simțim nevoia de o relaxare. Ori o ședință de fitness, pentru cei mereu activi și care nu renunță la obiceiurile sănătoase nici măcar atunci când sunt în vacanță.

M-am răsfățat cu o baie în jacuzzi și m-am bucurat și de piscina de 25 de metri și am renunțat, pentru câteva minute bune, la orice alt gând. M-am transpus, parcă, în timp și în spațiu și mi-am acordat aceste momente doar pentru mine. 🙂

EN: Rainy days don’t have to distress you, particularly when there are many other possibilities of spending your time. It’s true that we can no longer wander on the streets day in, day out, and we have to opt for indoor activities, but there are always exciting alternatives. For example, a SPA session is always a blessing, not only when the weather is not so friendly, but in any moment we feel the need to let our hair down and relax. For those whose energetic level is always high and who never bid farewell to their healthy habits, not even during their holiday, the gym may be the best solution.

 

Micul dejun – Breakfast

 

Vreau să vă avertizez că urmează imagini nerecomandate pofticioșilor! 🙂 Glumesc, dar nu în totalitate, pentru că și mie mi s-a făcut poftă privind fotografiile. Un bufet suedez cu preparate dintre cele mai diversificate este disponibil în fiecare dimineață, în frumosul restaurant al hotelului. Într-unul dintre ele, mai bine spus, care ne oferă și două terase, pentru a savura cafeaua privind parcul din apropiere. Spun unul dintre ele, deoarece nu este singurul care așteaptă oaspeții, multe persoane alegând Metropol Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Belgrade pentru organizarea de conferințe, recepții, baluri ori petreceri de tot felul.

EN: This is a warning that the following images are highly inadvisable to the greedy ones! I am kidding, but not totally, because I must admit that seeing the photos made me crave, too. An all-you-can-eat buffet with one of the most varied types of food is available every morning, inside the beautiful restaurant of the hotel. Actually, inside one of the many restaurants the hotel has, which also offers to its guests two terraces, where they can enjoy their coffee while regarding the beautiful park next to the hotel. I’m laying emphasis on reaffirming one of the restaurants, because it’s not the only one waiting for its guests, many people choosing Metropol Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Belgrade for organizing conferences, receptions, balls or parties of all kinds.  

Unul dintre ele este Red Parallel Lounge, un spațiu care mi s-a părut foarte rafinat și elegant, în ton cu atmosfera întregului hotel. Un restaurant aflat în holul principal, cel de la intrare, în care mi-ar fi plăcut să petrec mai mult timp, însă am ales să părăsesc hotelul în acea seară, pentru a simți puțin din atmosfera orașului Belgrad.

EN: One of them is Red Parallel Lounge, a space which seemed very elegant to me, in keeping with the atmosphere of the entire hotel. A restaurant situated in the main hall, the entrance hall, where I would have liked to spend more time, but I chose to leave the hotel that night in order to feel a little of the city vibe.

 

Atmosfera generală – General ambiance

 

După cum vă puteți imagina, principille pe care se bazează întreg personalul sunt, în primul rând, grija și atenția față de oaspeți, pentru a le îndeplini și cele mai mici dorințe, chiar și pe acelea pe care încă nu conștientizăm că le avem. Astfel, se dorește păstrarea tradițiilor și aducerea lor în prezent, într-o atmosferă clasică și modernă, totodată.

EN: As you can imagine, the premises of the entire personnel are the care and the attention for the guests, so as they can fulfill even the smallest desires, maybe the ones we are not yet aware of. Thus, they tend to preserve the traditions and to bring them in the present, in an atmosphere both classic and modern.
